Dr. Shakilu Jumanne was struggling to find a specialist paediatric oncology training programme in Tanzania.

This was until he found that the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) had developed a new curriculum for a Subspecialty training in Paediatric Hematology-Oncology which was launching in September 2013.

He applied and secured an admission as one among the first candidates to pursue this course in the country. Supported by the Karimjee Foundation he was awarded a scholarship and took part in a clinical placement in Dublin, as well as visits from top professors from the world’s best paediatric oncology.
