He spent much of his early life and education in Tanzania, moving to the UK in the 1980’s to undertake a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Loughborough University. After graduating he moved into finance and qualified as a Chartered Accountant, joining Ernst & Young where he remained for over 12 years working as an Auditor and Consultant in London, Brussels and Reading, with a focus on serving entrepreneurial businesses. Since leaving E&Y, Arif has been CFO and Executive Director of Sopheon plc, a publicly quoted international software company based in the UK. Alongside his employment, for a number of years he was also chair of governors at the Lightwater federation of schools.
